20 November 2011 - Birthday in D.C.

For my birthday this weekend, we went to Washington D. C.  We stayed with Jenni and Ed and their boys, but were able to see Joanne's cousin Jeremy and his family (they came over for birthday cake and pie on Saturday night), and Karl and his kids who joined us in the city on Saturday.  It was a very quick trip, but we were able to see the Natural and American History Smithsonians and several monuments on the National Mall.

Here is Emily admiring the Hope Diamond.

It was sunny but cold while we walked from the Smithsonian down past the Washington Monument.

We walked all the way down to the Lincoln Memorial, which was about a mile.

Then we walked back up the other side and saw the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

Sunset over the Potomac River.

On Sunday, which was my birthday, church was late so we slept in then went for a walk in the crunchy leaves.  Asher jumped in for a photo with the girls, but Noe didn't want to, so we let him off the hook.

Although the trip was way too short, it was exactly how I wanted to spend my birthday and we had a great time.
