Isn't it strange...

Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange how a few hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say in order to pray, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter in the scriptures, but how easy it is to read hundreds pages of a popular and entertaining novel?

Isn't it strange how we want front row seats to concerts or sporting events, but we'll do whatever is possible to sit on the last row in church?

Isn't it strange how we need to know about a church event for weeks in advance in order to include it in our agenda, but we can adjust for other events at the last minute?

Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn about God and then share with others, but how easy it is to learn, extend and repeat gossip?

Isn't it strange how we believe virtually anything that magazines, newspapers and other people say, but we question the words in the scriptures?

Isn't it strange how so many people want a place in heaven, but they don't want to believe, do, or say what is required to get there?

Isn't it strange how we send jokes and stories to others without much thought, but when we have messages about God, we think twice before we share them?

  1. You go BISHOP! I agree totally, and am guilty of some of those things.

  2. I have learned that sharing your feelings about the gospel of Jesus Christ can be difficult. Since I have shared gospel lessons with neighbors it has become easier to listen to the spirit. Thanks for sharing your feelings.

    Love ya, Dianne

  3. I think we're all guilty of one or another of these from time to time. We need reminders like this to help us keep our priorities straight.
